Shragge-Pagé-Kuster
Shragge–Pagé–Kuster is a new collaboration between trumpeter/shakuhachi floutist Aaron Shragge, harpist Sarah Pagé, and drummer Robbie Kuster—three artists whose individual voices have shaped Canada’s contemporary and improvised music landscape. Emerging in 2023 from long-standing musical relationships spanning over two decades, the trio explores the intersection of acoustic and electronic sound within an expressive, contemplative framework that blurs the boundaries between jazz, experimental, and ambient traditions.
Aaron Shragge’s custom trumpet/slide hybrid—an instrument informed by years of study in North Indian vocals and Japanese shakuhachi—meets Pagé’s expansive electro-acoustic harp textures and Kuster’s intricate blend of percussion, electronics, and found sounds. Together, the group creates immersive, genre-defying soundscapes that balance improvisational risk with meditative depth.
