  • The Rubin Museum of Art 150 West 17th Street New York, NY, 10011 United States (map)

Brooklyn Raga Massive artist collective performs a live film score to the 1973 animated sci-fi classic Fantastic Planet at The Rubin Museum of Art. The film, directed by René Laloux and written by Laloux and Roland Topor, is a surreal journey to the future with powerful allusions to the challenges of today. BRM’s raga-drenched live film score brings the experience of this otherworldly movie to new heights.

About the Musicians

Praised by the Wall Street Journal for “expanding the notion of what raga—the immersive, epic form of Indian music—can mean” and dubbed the “leaders of the raga renaissance” by the New Yorker, the fun-loving members of the Brooklyn Raga Massive collective have made huge waves for “preserving the past while blurring genres in an inventive spirit” (New York Times). They will bring a large ensemble to create an original live score to Fantastic Planet.
